Resource Spotlight: Native Child and Family Services Toronto
09.29.2026
For 40 years, the agency founded by First Nations, Inuit and Métis (FNIM) community members living in Toronto has worked to support the well-being of FNIM children and families. Their work is guided by the vision of providing culturally connected, land-based holistic services, and child & family well-being support to Section 35 rights holders.
NCFST works with over 250 FNIM communities to ensure children and families receive distinct and appropriate services guided by their Nations.
One key resource is their Family Supports Services which provides education and early intervention supports to caregivers and children that are inclusive, holistic and culturally responsive.
NCFST’s service model strives to empower parents and caregivers by building parenting skills and relationships. There are no fees connected to the Family Support Services and participants will be assisted with transportation to and from services with TTC tokens.
FNIM caregivers and children are welcome to participate in NCFST Family Supports independently of child welfare involvement.
The Family Supports Services programming includes:
- Kognaasaowin (Parenting in a Good Way)
- Ninoshe (My Mother’s Sister)
- Ziishay (My Father’s Brother)
- Community Action Programs for Children (CAP-C)
